Riley Keough spoke candidly Friday about her first holiday season without her late brother Benjamin, who died by suicide in July.
Posting a throwback photo to Instagram, the 31-year-old actress shared an emotional message with followers, noting she’s thinking of those who are also readying for their first Christmas without loved ones.
“Its going to be my first Christmas without my best friend and baby brother. Words can’t describe how painful it is,” Keough began.
“I’m thinking of everyone whose lost someone they love and everyone else whose first Holiday it is with grief and without the person they love,” she continued. “And I’m also thinking of all of the beautiful people who can’t be here with us in physical form and sending them my love wherever they may be, not too far away.”
Benjamin, the grandson of the late Elvis Presley and the son of Lisa Marie Presley, was 27 years old.
In the wake of Benjamin’s death, Keough has continued to honor his memory, unveiling a tattoo tribute in July. She had his name, “Benjamin Storm,” inked on her collarbone.
In October, Lisa Marie Presley broke her silence on Benjamin’s death, posting a heartbreaking message on what would have been his 28th birthday.
“My beautiful beautiful angel, I worshipped the ground you walked on, on this earth and now in Heaven. My heart and soul went with you,” Presley, 52, penned.
“The depth of the pain is suffocating and bottomless without you every moment of every day. I will never be the same. Please wait for me my love, and hold my hand while I stay to continue to protect and raise your little sisters and to be here for Riley. I know you would want that,” she continued.
