Wendy Williams’ mother Shirley Skinner Williams has passed away, the star confirmed on her talk show on Monday morning.

‘She died. My mom passed away many, many, many, many weeks ago,’ the 56-year-old star shared as she had on a dark satin dress. ‘You know how you lose track of the day and time? All I know was it was a long time ago. The five of us, my mom, dad, my siblings, the five of us – she will always be here.’

The personality added her mother passed away ‘beautifully and peacefully and surrounded by love. She didn’t suffer, thank God.’

Wendy added their relationship became closer when she went away to college.

And they were like two teenage girls who were ‘like 17-year-olds,’ said the media standout.

‘My relationship with my mother right up to the end was so girly and so ridiculously giggly. She said to me, “The girls went down to the shop and bought up press on nails and Wendy if one pops off, I open up a package and pop another one on.”‘

And Wendy added she watched the Housewives with her mother as well as Hallmark movies and the old Frosty movies.

And the star said they were like ‘best friends.’ 

The diva added that she is going to stay strong for her son because this is the first death of a family member he is experiencing. Her son is 20-year-old Kevin Hunter Jr.

And Wendy said that she will not cry on TV for the sake of her son and was actually proud that she shed not one tear on TV.

Wendy also said that she talks ‘out loud’ to her mom and she hears what her mother would say back. 

But then Williams broke down in tears as she held onto a mug of coffee and shared that her mother ‘admired me because I chose my college’; she added that her mother said she liked how Wendy went away to college, out of New Jersey.

Shirley attended King University, said Wendy. 

Later in her opening she said ‘life could be worse’ then she added, ‘Not really, this is the worst.’ 

The news was first shared by a journalist named Courtney Brown who is a longtime friend of the family.

Shirley worked as a teacher in New Jersey where she raised the talk show host along with Wendy’s siblings Wanda and Thomas.

The matriarch leaves behind her children as well as her spouse Thomas Williams, Jr.

Shirley often appeared on The Wendy Williams Show and sometimes served as a co-host. 

Writer Brown said that Shirley and her grandmother were close friends for 83 years.   

‘One of my granny’s best friends for 83 years passed away…Mrs. Shirley Williams ❤️,’ said the writer on social media.

According to Madame Noire, Shirley was a learning disabilities resource specialist at the Bradley School in Asbury Park, New Jersey. 

‘Williams was a civic leader and served in community organizations like the Monmouth County Council of Girl Scouts and the Central Jersey Club of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Clubs, Inc,’ according to an article in the Asbury Park Press.

And Shirley was a member of the Black sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc, added Madame Noire.
